| This sharpening stone can be stored in water and is used to hone chisels and knives to a razor sharp edge. The 800 grit is for rough honing, and the 4000 grit is for final polishing of the sharp edge. The abrasive is friable, meaning that it will wear with use. The paste or slurry created from the water with the stone is what cuts the steel. The stone can be resurfaced flat by securing a sheet of 120 grit wet and dry sandpaper onto a piece of ¼” glass or a 12 x 12 granite tile, wet the paper and evenly flatten the stone with a steady stroke. |
