This is a stainless steel surgical scalpel handle with a tough high carbon steel blade that is very useful for cutting brittle or difficult to cut veneers. The scalpel is mainly used with the V-Edge (straight edge) for straight line cutting of veneer or doing freehand detail work on veneer patterns. The advantage of this scalpel is that it is far superior, sharper and tougher than other types of x-acto blades. Sharpening the tip of the blade is done by honing the backside of the blade point on a sharpening stone in order to expose a fresh sharp pointed tip on the very end, a sharp tip that cuts. |
