| This 26" brass and multi-plywood straight edge is used for straight-line knife, chisel or veneer saw cutting of veneer. The brass is ideal for a cutting edge because it will not damage the knife blade that is riding against it, and the brass acts like a lubricant for the hard knife steel. The 'knife edge' side of the V-Edge is made from brass flat bar and has a milled bevel to allow easy cutting of material with a chisel or scalpel. The 'sawing side' of the straight edge is brass and multiply, which gives a good vertical surface on which to guide the veneer saw. This straight edge is slightly bowed or tensioned so when the tool is firmly held down onto the veneer, the cutting or sawing can be done without the straight edge shifting. |
