| This tape dispenser is an excellent way to wet the moisture activated ¾” wide gum veneer tape for fastening joint seams together, or the 2” wide tape for reinforcing the fragile veneer with 2’ tape for the marquetry cutting process. This manual ‘pull and tear’ machine has a brush to moisten the hide glue gum tape and is indispensable for any shop that works with veneer on a regular basis, wishing to graduate from the ‘sponge and cup’ system in order to do more production work. After moistening the tape, make sure the tape is really ‘Slimy’ by running your finger on the glue side of the tape once, to distribute the moisture and to make sure the tape is really slippery before applying it. Remember to firmly and aggressively brush down the tape with the brass bristle brush in both directions to intimately secure the tape to the veneer, then, put the joined veneer between two sheets of plywood or platens’ to dry for 15-20 min before continuing to work on it.. |
