| This low tack masking tape from 3M is excellent for pulling veneer seams together, decorative patterns and assembling marquetry. It is used to temporarily pull together and hold even difficult veneer joints together on the 'glue face' of the veneer so one can apply the water gum tape onto the opposite 'show face', or exposed side of the veneer on the panel. This type of blue tape will not leave a residue, tear fibers or be difficult to remove, provided that it is exposed to heat, or pressed on with excessive force, (such as in a veneer or vacuum press). The 3/4" tape has the right amount of elasticity to stretch over a seam and 'draw' a difficult joint together, and the 3" wide tape is ideal for assembling larger areas of marquetry or decorative veneer work together. It is removed from the 'glue face' after the water gum tape has been applied to the show face, holding everything together. |
