| This one-component pre-catalyzed cross-linking polyvinyl acetate adhesive offers fast cure and HPVA Type II water resistance. It has excellent spreading and layering characteristics with a high final cure strength that has a rigid glue line, ideal for veneering. This tough glue line is what sets it apart from other PVAs. Uses include laminating paper backed and raw wood veneer, porous material, bent laminations and general woodworking. It has a 68% solids content and is slightly tan in appearance. Occasionally the color will stratify in the bottle, but does not affect the bond or drying time. It can be tinted with food dyes if need be, and larger surfaces can be wetted with multiple thin layers of glue applied with a foam roller, making the adhesive thickness controllable. A warmer cure cycle will result in a stronger bond, and at 70° / 70% you should have a working time of 15 minutes before the project needs to be clamped. The spread rate is approx 1 cup per 10 square feet. A stronger bond is possible through heat, since the initial attack of adhesive is better through heat. The press can be heated with a simple heating blanket and reflective blanket over the top to preheat a press and assist with the cure cycle. At 100 degrees, the glue cures in 2 hours. At 75 degrees cure time is approximately 6 hours to unclamp. Note: Vacuum presses take longer since this adhesive cures by evaporation. |
